There are 89 000 reasons to run next year’s Comrades Marathon in the newly-launched Mr Price  Maxed Elite limited edition running shoe or any other Maxed footwear.

The retail company, which is the official apparel partner of the Ultimate Human Race, announced on Thursday that runners who wear their new shoes for the 89km Down Run from Pietermaritzburg to Durban on June 8 stand a chance to win a massive R89 000.

“As the 98th Comrades Marathon draws near, Mr Price Sport is thrilled to announce an exciting opportunity for participants. The #MarathonInMaxed campaign is giving runners 89 000 reasons to run 89 kilometres in Maxed footwear. One lucky finisher, running in Maxed or Maxed Elite footwear, will stand a chance to win an impressive R89 000,” the company announced in a press statement yesterday.

To enter, runners must pledge to wear Maxed shoes by selecting them as their chosen footwear brand when entering the race. Start, run and finish the Comrades Marathon in Maxed footwear for a chance to win the grand prize.

Maxed footwear has had great success at Comrades with David Gatebe’s record run of 5:18:19 in 2016 the most memorable. The year before, Gift Kelehe took the crown in Maxed footwear.
